John Ellis (a.k.a. John Ellis-Guardiola), has a master's in translation and interpretation (MATI) in Spanish and English from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. He currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil, where he translates, interprets and trains new interpreters at Associação Alumni.
His career in translation and interpretation started in 2010 after working as a TV news producer for Japanese broadcasters Tokyo Broadcasting System and NHK in New York City and Los Angeles, respectively. He speaks Japanese from his two years working as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) Program in Miyagi Prefecture.
He has a B.A. from Macalester College and grew up speaking English, Spanish and later French.
